Referencing guide at the University of Manchester: Zotero

What is Zotero?

Zotero is a free Firefox extension which allows you to collect and mange references identified during your research and to cite them when writing essays or papers.  It can be integrated with Microsoft Word and OpenOffice/NeoOffice by downloading the Zotero word processor plug-ins.

How does it work?

Zotero extracts bibliographic information from websites, library catalogues and databases, enabling you to easily save, organise and create bibliographies as you do your research.

You can use it in conjunction with other software such as Endnote as it enables you to pull bibliographic information from multiple databases and then import it into Endnote or Refworks in one step.

Online tutorials

You can access some excellent resources, including quick start guides, FAQ’s and screencast tutorials from the support section of the Zotero website.
