Distance Learning at the University of ManchesterOLD: Borrowing and returning printed material

Library Welcome 2015 for Distance Learners

Your student ID card is also your library card. Watch this presentation to see what services you can access with it.

E-payments

The Library operates semester loans. Each book can be recalled at any time including holidays, and there is a £2 per day charge If you are late returning a recalled book you can pay fines remotely using the e-payments system.

Renewing your books

You can renew your books online by logging into My Account in Library Search. You will not be able to renew books once their due date is passed or if they are recalled.
If one of your books is recalled, you will have seven days to post it back using recorded delivery. You can find a list of the different libraries on the Library website. You can choose to return your books at any site, as the Library offers a multi-site return service.

SCONUL: using other academic libraries

You can also access academic libraries in your local area through the SCONUL scheme.

You can apply for SCONUL membership through their website. Once you receive a confirmation email, take it along with a copy of your ID card, to the library you want to visit.

The SCONUL service is only available within the UK.
